Western Newfoundland’s Business & Industry Leaders to Gather for West Coast Business & Investment Summit

CORNER BROOK, NL — August 18, 2026 — Business leaders, major project proponents, Indigenous leaders, investors and government decision-makers will gather in Corner Brook this fall for the West Coast Business & Investment Summit, a two-day event focused on the investment, projects and partnerships shaping the future of Western Newfoundland.

Taking place October 6–7, 2026, in Corner Brook and at Marble Mountain, the Summit is hosted by the Greater Corner Brook Board of Trade in collaboration with Pedal & Shift.

Western Newfoundland is entering a significant period of economic opportunity, with major projects and investments advancing across mining, energy, forestry, transportation, infrastructure and other sectors. The Summit will bring together the people leading that activity to discuss what is happening now, what is coming next, and what the region needs to turn new investment into long-term economic growth.

“Western Newfoundland has tremendous opportunity in front of it, and this Summit is about bringing the people who can help realize that opportunity into the same room,” said Ray Brake, President, Greater Corner Brook Board of Trade. “It is an opportunity to showcase what is happening in our region, strengthen relationships and have meaningful conversations about what we need to support the next phase of growth.”

The Summit will feature Qalipu Chief Jenny Brake and the Honourable Premier Tony Wakeham, along with senior leaders from industry, Indigenous communities, government and organizations involved in major projects and economic development across the region.

Programming will explore some of the most important questions facing Western Newfoundland, including why the region is attracting investment now; the infrastructure, workforce and capacity required to support growth; how projects can move effectively from development to approval; and how stronger partnerships with Indigenous communities can contribute to economic development.

Delegates will also hear directly from companies advancing major projects and investments in Western Newfoundland. The program will extend beyond traditional presentations and panels, creating opportunities for business leaders, investors, project proponents and decision-makers to build relationships and identify opportunities to work together.

“We don’t want this to be a conference where people spend two days talking about economic opportunity and then go home,” said Ian Froude, Managing Director and Founder of Pedal & Shift. “We are designing the Summit around the conversations and relationships that can actually move things forward — connecting businesses with major projects, bringing industry and government together, and creating space to talk candidly about what Western Newfoundland needs to capitalize on the opportunities ahead.”

The Summit will also highlight the role of Western Newfoundland’s communities, businesses and Indigenous leadership in shaping the region’s economic future.

An evening reception at Marble Mountain on October 6 will provide delegates with an additional opportunity to connect with speakers, partners and business leaders from across the province.
